Maybe I've been ruined by the plethora of Chinese establishments during my college years in Springfield, MO but I have had the most difficult time finding a decent place after returning to KC. Initially the nearness of Red Wok to me made it very appealing. Sure, it didn't knock my socks off the first time I ate there but unless a place is horrible I will typically give it another chance. However, it continues to dissapoint and here's why: I'm a General Tso's kind of girl but at Red Wok you get tough "chicken" with thick plain sauce. There's not much, if any, kick to it which any Tso's fan will tell you is an integral part! The crab rangoon is typical box and fry type with nothing special to write home about. The fried rice is actually good... but expensive! My mom was not impressed at all by the cashew chicken so she will not be returning. Altogether it's a less-than-thrilling experience but if you have a serious craving, this may work for you. It's worth a shot... but maybe not two.

First of all, I love the quality of food at Red Wok. It has the same owners as Iron Wok, but the Spring rolls here are Teh Awesome -- Best Evar. :-) Highly recommended. I ordered the Sesame Shrimp with fried rice, and OMG I was *literally* just going " Mmmmmm " with every bite. That very well might have been the best Chinese meal I've ever had. The service was good, nice relaxed atmosphere, definitely going back.

WOW WOW WOW and a YUM ! I thought Iron Wok was the bomb...but this place........ yowssser ! To be fair, upon our arrival, we figured out that the Iron & Red Wok are one in the same. Same nice atmosphere, and people, but man-oh-man does the cook make all the difference ! Spring rolls.....divine...I was in heaven! The General Tso's...the best I've ever had. I would have licked my plate had I not gotten the evil eye from my mate ;) I'll be counting Red Wok's spring rolls instead of sheep at bedtime from now on !

Awful. Used to be the best. They've changed ownership and all the recipes are different, not good. We won't ever be back.

Just as the two star description states " Meh. I've experienced better" We ordered take out and I told my wife to get me spring rolls and a shrimp dish. When she returned I was so excited to eat my spring rolls. I pulled them out of the package and they were fried. When I looked online at the menu it did not say they would be fried. Not what I was expecting, but my mistake, I should have called and asked. But not only were they fried, they were almost black. Like they had been forgotten about in the fryer. I could not even muster up the nerve to try one. My wife took on bite and spit it back out. Ok, now on to my shrimp dish. I had shrimp and vegetables in a white sauce. The shrimp were good, not seasoned at all, but still were cooked very nicely. Nothing special, no bursting flavors, the white sacue was just kind of there, didn't ad any substantial flavor to the dish. I will continue looking for the best chinese take out in the Northland.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
